1. Who does art education benefit and how?

Most significantly, the students involved. But, from the limited amount of teaching I've done, I've found being a tutor to be beneficial too.

2. Please give advice to a recently graduated artist, with specific and practical examples.

Say yes to opportunities that come your way. Maintain an easy-to-navigate website with news and decent photographs of your work. Enter every competition and residency that you're eligible for. Keep making work and don't be shy about talking about it. Be punctual; too many artists aren't.

3. How should artists, in your opinion, support themselves and fund their projects?

As a painter, grants aren't the most obvious way for me to support myself. In my experience recent graduates are too shy about selling their work. But sales are a great way to fund an art practice and further a career. Don't be overly precious.
